MDI has recently completed a full validation of their single use Aseptimix bag. This is a unique offering in the Biotech landscape as it allows for different impellar configurations and the use of different supplier hardware platforms.
MDI has developed single use sterile mix bags which can be adapted to Sartorius ProMix, Cytiva, PALL/ATMI and Millipore Mobius mixing systems – they have specifically molded all of the different impellar designs so that a similar product performance will be achieved
The Bags have been tested and evaluated at customer sites in the US at 50 and 2000 L scale with good success and have now been qualified in GMP production. Mixing studies performed at customer sites reported back that the bags worked well and similar or better mixing efficiency was observed using the MDI bags
Lead time for these SU Mix bags is 8-10 weeks currently which from the market information we have is significantly faster turnaround time
Cost savings vs competition is estimated around 30-40% vs current competition
Customers have reported they prefer the 8” TC Powder port as a standard on the MDI mix bag which provides easier access for powder deployment
MDI can provide prototypes for evaluation, but we would need more specifics on the 50, 100, 200 and 1000 L tote dimensions to ensure proper bag fitment to your existing mixing hardware system
We believe this new offering can allow customers more flexibility with their single use suppliers as this can act as a universal bag that can fit into multiple hardware offerins from different vendors. With significant cost savings opportunities and the ability to lower supply chain risk the new single use mixing platform from MDI is a significant development for Biotech.
